The tips

Hi there. I have been playing mafia wars on and off since some time last year, but I couldn't tell you when. This page is more aimed at people who have played the mafia wars game before, but could be helpful to any player. If you can, answer the poll after you read the page, thanks for your input!

Tip #1 - When you first start out, you need money to buy items to complete jobs and property early on. Later in the game, you need energy. The tip here is to keep that in mind.

Tip #2 - Be active. You will be more successful in mafia wars if you are online at least once per day, because you won't be losing energy or stamina points. As well, you will get more money out of your properties.

Tip #3 - Reward points. The only thing you really should be spending these on is energy refills, which in my opinion is the most useful. I have bought some limited edition items, but that was back when they didn't cost 35 points each (I picked up some for 5-8 pts)

Tip #4 - Bank some money. Until you are making $100 million per day, you should be banking some so you can't lose it all. The %10 cost is worth it in my opinion. If you want to bank an even number, bank all the same number and it will be even. ($111 will bank $100; $222222222 will bank $200 million)

Tip #5 - Gift to your mafia members. Mystery bags and free gifts should be sent often. The reason is that the more powerful your mafia members are, the more powerful you in turn are in a fight.

Tip #6 - Grow your mafia family! It is easy to find people who will add you for mafia wars. Once you add them and they are in your family, you can remove them from your friends list and they will still be in your family.

Tip #7 - Don't spam with posting. No one wants to see that. The only things you really should be posting are asking for chop shop/etc. items, war declarations, and burners.

Tip #8 - Use up your energy and stamina both before you open an energy pack. I prefer to use up all my energy, and then use up stamina robbing. The reason is that your stamina point might be able to edge you out an extra level, which would mean a free energy refill and you still have your pack left.

Tip #9 - When you’re at 150 or so experience for the next level, don't waste energy packs. This relates to #8.

Tip #10 - Help out other members of the mafia wars community and share your knowledge. You are all trying to be the best you can - and other players will usually help if you ask them.

Tip #11 - The "2X level" rule for attack and defense. This idea is that your attack and defense should be at twice your level. If you are level 100, you should have both 200 attack and defense.

Tip #12 - Related to #11, don't waste skill points. Do you really need 500 health? No. Dyeing is not that big of a deal, and healing doesn’t cost that much money once you’re into the later levels. I would use all of my points on energy early on, and then attack and defense. Stamina is important if you want to rob or fight, but otherwise it's not.

Tip #13 - Once you can afford it, buy better weapons/armor/vehicles. It will make you more powerful and more likely to win a fight.

Tip #14 - In the later game, when you have lots of money, buy the 20 boosts you can each day (extra pair of eyes, hot coffee, and mutts). It doesn't hurt you any, and gives you a slight edge.

Tip #15 - Buy, buy, buy real estate! Invest in properties/business so you can have a constant cash flow.

Tip #16 - Master all the New York job tiers. It's not hard, and you get a nice little bonus for doing it. Not to mention you will probably be able to vault most if not all of the collections.

Tip #17 - Pass along these tips to your family. The more better players, the better you will do.
